Abstract:
Mesothelioma in a patient aged 55 years is described. The illness was marked by association of malignant tumor with postnecrotic liver cirrhosis. Clinical diagnosis appeared to be erroneous: greater omentum mesithelioma was taken for primary liver carcinoma. Diagnostic error was consequent in many respects on the patient’s refusal to undergo laparoscopy. The death was evidently caused by tumor dissemination accompanied by the increment of cachexia, anemia and enhancement of intoxication. Morbid anatomy examination confirmed the opinion about the absence of mesothelioma metastasis to the organs covered with the peritoneum.
