    “НОВИЙ” РЕАЛІЗМ САЛМАНА РУШДІ ТА ЗЕДІ СМІТ : ПРОЛОГ (НА МАТЕРІАЛІ РОМАНІВ С. РУШДІ “ОПІВНІЧНІ ДІТИ” ТА З. СМІТ “БІЛІ ЗУБИ” ТА ЇХНІХ УКРАЇНСЬКИХ ПЕРЕКЛАДІВ)

    У статті розглядаються прологи до двох англомовних романів (“Опівнічні діти” С. Рушді та “Білі зуби” З. Сміт) і їхні українські переклади. Зокрема, розглянуто перекладацькі стратегії щодо відтворення нового стилю письма – магічного реалізму С. Рушді та істеричного реалізму З. Сміт. Проаналізовано як традиційні риси реалізму ХІХ століття, так і нові відмінні засоби, як-от алюзії, спосіб наррації, іронію. The article studies prologues to the two English-language novels (S. Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children and Z. Smith’s White Teeth) and their Ukrainian translations. In particular, the author explores translation strategies towards the reproduction of the new writing style – Rushdie’s magical realism and Smith’s hysterical realism. The paper analyzes both the traditional features of the 19th-century realism and new distinct ones like allusions, means of narration, irony.
