    Досліджується теоретико-методичні аспекти вивчення перепису населення в Україні. Розглянуто основні поняття, категорії населення, що враховуються при переписі населення, основні принципи проведення та програма, методи перепису населення, історію проведення переписів населення на території сучасної України, а також українських територіях у складі Російської імперії, Австро-Угорщини, Румунії, Польщі, Чехословаччини, Союзу Радянських Соціалістичних Республік, проведення Всеукраїнського перепису населення 2001 року, сучасні проекти та спроби другого перепису на території України, застосування альтернативних способів при проведені перепису населення.
