    Статтю присвячено актуальній проблемі вишівської лінгводидактики – організації й проведенню самостійної роботи студентів – майбутніх учителів української мови. На основі аналізу наукової літератури і власного досвіду з’ясовано сутність самостійної діяльності студентів-філологів, визначено її форми і типи, організацію аудиторних і позааудиторних видів самостійної роботи, визначено основні завдання та форми її проведення. На конкретних прикладах продемонстровано самостійну роботу студентів з курсу «Методика навчання української мови середніх загальноосвітніх закладах». The actual problem of linguodidactics in higher educational establishments is the organization and carrying out of self-study of students, future Ukrainian language teachers. Based on the analysis of scientific literature and personal experience the essence of students-philologists’ self-activity is clarified. Its forms, types, organization of in-class and out-class self-study, the basic tasks of its implementation are determined. The definite examples show self-study of students on the course "Methodology of teaching the Ukrainian language in secondary schools".
