(Palaearctic Grasslands, 2022-02) Moysiyenko, Ivan; Vynokurov, Denys; Shyriaieva, Dariia; Skobel, Nadiia; Babitskyi, Andrii; Bednarska, Iryna; Bezsmertna, Olesia; Chusova, Olha; Dengler, Jürgen; Guarino, Riccardo; Kalashnik, Kateryna; Khodosovtsev, Alexander; Kolomiychuk, Vitalii; Kucher, Oksana; Kuzemko, Anna; Shapoval, Viktor; Umanets, Olha; Zagorodniuk, Natalia; Zakharova, Maryna; Dembicz, Iwona
The 15th EDGG Field Workshop took place from 24 May to 3 June 2021 in Southern Ukraine (Kherson and Mykolaiv administrative regions). Over 10 days, we sampled different types of grasslands, mainly focusing on dry grasslands of the classes Festuco Brometea, Koelerio-Corynephoretea canescentis, and Festuco-Puccinellietea (steppic, sandy and saline, respectively) but also taking into account other open habitats, such as mesic grasslands and dunes. In total, we sampled 50 nested-plot series with 7–8 grain sizes from 1 cm2 to 100 m2 and, in some cases, up to 1000 m2 (“EDGG Biodiversity Plots”), plus 74 additional normal plots of 10 m2. We comprehensively sampled vascular plants as well as terricolous bryophytes and lichens, and, for the first time also Sciaridae (Diptera, Insecta). One vascular plant species (Torilis pseudonodosa), as well as two lichen species (Cladonia conista and Endocarpon loscosii), were recorded for the first time from Ukraine. Two species of moss (Rhynchostegium megapolitanum and Ptychostomum torquescens) and three species of lichen (Cladonia cervicornis, C. symphycarpa, and Involucropyrenium breussi) were reported for the first time for the Kherson region. We summarize the scale-dependent richness values and compare them with those from other studies. The report concludes with a photo diary with impressions from the Field Workshop.

Lichenostigma rugosa G. Thor. є новим видом ліхенофільного гриба для України, що паразитує на лишайнику Diploschistes candidissimus (Kremp.) Zahlbr. The lichen biota of landscape reserve "Kayirs’ka balka" are include 85 species lichens and lichenicolous fungi belonging to 37 genera, 18 familia and 9 orders. Lichenostigma rugosa G. Thor as lichenicolous on Diploschistes candidissimus (Kremp.) Zahlbr. firstly found in Ukraine. Amond ecological grups, saxicolous lichens (56 species, 66%), corticolous lichens (21, 24,7%), terricolous (5, 5,9%), fetriticolous (3, 3,5%) and lichenicolous fungi (5, 5,9%) are presented.

Lichenicolous fungi of Ukraine: an annotated checklist
    (2017) Darmostuk, V. V.; Khodosovtsev, A. Ye.; Дармостук, В. В.; Ходосовцев, О. Є.
The checklist is based on 137 references and it includes data on the distribution of 220 taxa of lichenicolous fungi in Ukraine. Four species are based on dubious records. The Crimea (80 species) and Carpathians Mts (64 species) have highest observed species diversity of the lichenicolous fungi. Among plain territories, most species-rich regions are Kherson (64 species) and Mykolaiv (37 species), and both regions were intensively surveyed for lichenicolous fungi. Most frequent host genera recorded are Lecanora s. lat. (23 species), Cladonia (17 species), Xanthoria s. lat. (15 species), Aspicilia s. lat. (14 species) and Caloplaca s. lat. (13 species). Most diverse taxonomical groups of lichenicolous fungi recorded are Capnodiales (21 species), Arthoniales (18 species) and Hypocreales (13 species). Katherinomyces cetrariae, Lichenochora hypanica, Lichenostigma svandae, Norrlinia medoborensis, Phoma pisutii, Pronectria diplococca, P. caloplacae, Rosellinula frustulosae, Sphaerellothecium aculeatae, Pleospora xanthoriae, Trichoconis hafellneri and Zwackhiomyces polischukii were described from type localities in Ukraine.
