The article focuses on the specificity and emphasizes the main historical and contemporary contradictions in the relationship between rhetoric and linguistic. The role of the studying of rhetoric based on linguistic knowledge is considered too. The statements according which rhetoric and linguistic are declared their independence is examined in this article too.
