Матеріалом аналізу є креативний дискурс майстра парадоксу Оскара Уайльда. Парадокс відображає реально існуючі протиріччя та письменник зумисно поєднує суперечливі поняття з метою досягнення певного ефекту. В статье исследуется mundus inversus – мир, который перевернулся с ног на голову. Материалом анализа является креативный дискурс мастера парадокса Оскара Уайльда. Парадокс отражает реально существующие противоречия, и писатель умышленно сочетает противоречивые понятия с целью достижения определенного эффекта. Mundus inversus – the world that has turned upside down is investigated in the article. The analysis is based on creative discourse by Oscar Wilde – master of paradoxes. Paradox reflects actually existing contradictions and the writer deliberately combines the contradictory concepts in order to achieve a certain effect.Item ENGLISH LITERARY PARADOX: A STYLISTIC ANALYSIS(2013) Korotkova, L. V.; Короткова, Л. В.Paradox, as a phenomenon, along with the examples that illustrate it, is the subject of many books and papers in mathematics, logic, and philosophy. In the present article we will concentrate on the application of paradox as a distinguishing feature of a literary language. The paradox is the basic stylistic device, accompanied by other stylistic devices, in the works of the most paradoxical writer of the nineteenth century, as the most critics agree – O. Wild. Paradox in Wilde's masterpieces consists in stating the opposite of a received opinion; in other words, paradox contradicts not itself but common sense.
