І.Роботу присвячено дослідженню проблеми позаурочної роботи з дітьми, що мають інтелектуальну недостатність. Відповідно до класичної теорії олігофренопедагогіки, навчання дітей з відхиленнями в інтелектуальному розвитку зводиться до повідомлення учням загальноосвітніх знань, формування трудових навичок і умінь для підготовки їх до самостійного життя і праці. Навчання і виховання розумово відсталих дітей відбувається в спеціальних загальноосвітніх закладах та реабілітаційних центрах. Але, крім формування у розумово відсталих дітей навичок, умінь і знань, необхідно звернути увагу на їх соціальний розвиток. Спеціальна загальноосвітня школа – загальноосвітній навчальний заклад з продовженим днем, що забезпечує навчання, виховання та корекційно-розвивальну роботу дітей, які потребують корекції розумового розвитку, за рахунок держави.
