С.The article presents various approaches to studying the problem of language learning styles in modern linguodidactics, explains the reasons for their popularity in the world practice of teaching foreign languages and why they are widely accepted and popularized by British and American scientists. The authors consider and interpret in detail the main types of language learning styles, indicating their advantages and disadvantages, and how they can be used to improve the quality of teaching a foreign language in high school. The material demonstrates the role of learning styles in teaching foreign languages. The issue of differentiating the language learning styles of the teacher and the student also deserves attention. The problem of language learning styles of teaching English in high school, has acquired special relevance due to the need for modern students to develop communication skills in various social spheres. The term "language learning styles" is used to describe a concept that involves the process of the students receiving new foreign language information and developing their ability to relay it adequately in the process of communication. The authors analysed the basic principles of language learning styles in modern linguodidactics and revealed the possibilities of their specific application in the methods of teaching English in high school. Relationships have been established between different approaches to learning language styles. There have been determined methods for forming a "sense of style" corresponding to a communicative situation. In a broad sense, language learning styles are considered in the context of general principles of teaching a foreign language, but the need for differentiated and personally oriented learning is emphasized. The scientists proceed from the fact that the choice of learning styles provides for taking into account the level of psychological and communicative training of students, in particular the degrees of formation of their language and speech skills in English, as well as the intellectual level, age personality traits, processes of memory, imagination, thinking. The researchers developed proposals for the use of language learning styles in the practice of English instruction in high school, and also identified the prospect of further research in this area.Item LINGUODIDACTIC CORRECTNESS AS A PRINCIPLE OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING(2024) Lebedeva, N. С.Necessity to proceed to teaching foreign languages on a scientific basis and not to separate the linguistic aspect from the pedagogical and psychological was emphasized by the linguists in the last century. H. E. Palmer theoretically developed this requirement by introducing the term "principles of linguistic pedagogy" into scientific usage. The article analyses a problem that has become especially actual in modern linguodidactics, namely: the need to justify and adhere to the position that the language is described not "in itself and for itself", but taking into consideration the fact that its description should meet the obligatory needs of teaching language as means of transmitting information. The pedagogical approach to language makes the linguists admit that the structure of the language differs from other structures. First, it is an active dynamic model ("meaning – text"); secondly, it has several levels, and the most profound is fundamental. The following is the level of intentions, which is indirectly correlated with the level of meanings of words. Third, the action of the model is related to the direction of speech communication and the correctness of what is expressed in the speech utterance. An essential feature of modern pedagogical linguistics is to take into account the peculiarities of linguistic communication, which are manifested, in particular, in the correct usage of expressing means of the foreign language tools necessary for adequate exchange of ideas in the communication process. The article has clarified the following types of correctness: correctness usage of language behaviour, correct use of lexical units, correctness of syntactic forms, communicative correctness, semantic correctness, pragmatic correctness, and also defines the relationship between the concepts of correctness and speech etiquette. In general, the description of correctness in speech behaviour was performed within the framework of pedagogical tasks. А.The research focuses on reconstruction of the model of narration “Merry-go-round” in Norman Lindsay’s fairy tale “The Magic Pudding” and revealing lexical, grammatical, semiotic means of its actualization in the text. It is believed that narration refers to the concrete and directly visible way in which a story is told, comprising word choice, sentence length and narrating agent. The model of narration is realized as a cognitive and linguistic construal which we represent as an abstract schema. The model of narration “Merry-go-round” is inbuilt into the narrative structure of the text. The semantics of the name of the model taken from different thesaurus sources: etymological, synonymous and definitional correlates with the name of the game and enables us to reveal typical features of the word and main characteristics of the game itself: it is something pleasant and funny for children, it moves round, has circular movements. Circular fast movements of merry-go-round correlate to the description of its movements in narrative situations in the fairy tale i.e. the repetition of adventures of main characters. On lexico-grammatical level circular movement is actualized via motion verbs. Text illustrations of the fairy tale serve as semiotic means of realization funny circular movements. It is claimed that such narrative structure of the text subconsciously activates in a child’s mind his/her knowledge, memories, emotions connected with the play Merry-go-round and as a result makes a child get interested in a fairy tale and keeps him/her engaged in the development of the plot. Статтю присвячено реконструюванню моделі нарації «Merry-go-round» («Карусель») у казці Нормана Ліндсі «Чарівний пудинг» та виявленню лексичних, граматичних і семіотичних засобів її реалізації у художньому тексті. У дослідженні нарацію розуміємо як конкретний спосіб повістування історії, який охоплює лексичні, синтаксичні, наративні (наратор та нарататор) особливості художнього тексту. Модель нарації витлумачено як лінгвокогнітивний конструкт, який ми представляємо у вигляді абстрактної схеми. Модель нарації «Merry-go-round» є вписаною у наративну структуру художнього тексту. Семантика імені моделі нарації співвідноситься з іменем гри. Етимологічних розвідки та вивчення семантики у тлумачних та синонімічних словниках уможливлюють виявлення найтиповіших ознак та характеристик імені моделі та самої гри. «Merrygo- round» - це приємна та смішна дитяча гра-розвага, із швидким обертом по кому. Семантика циклічного руху реалізована у наративних ситуаціях – пригоди головних персонажів повторюються по колу. На лексичному та граматичному рівнях семантика рух відбита у дієсловах із значенням руху. На семіотичному рівні семантики руху втілена в ілюстраціях, які візуально нагадують оберт по колу. Така наративна структура художнього тексту підсвідомо активує в уяві дитини її знання, спогади, емоції, пов’язані із грою-розвагою merry-go-round, що збуджує дитячу допитливість і сприяє її зацікавленості у розвитку сюжету казки. Статья посвящена реконструкции и описанию модели наррации «Merry-goround » («Карусель») в сказке Нормана Линдси «Волшебный пудинг» и выявлению лексических, грамматических и семиотических особенностей ее реализации в тексте. В исследовании наррацию понимаем как конкретный способ повествования истории. Наррация предполагает особый выбор лексических, грамматических и семиотических средств, использованных в художественном тексте. Модель наррации понимаем как лингвокогнитивный конструкт, который представляем в виде абстрактной схемы. Модель наррации «Merry-go-round» («Карусель») вписана в нарративную структуру художественного текста. Семантика имени модели наррации соотносится с именем игры. Изучение семантики в этимологических, толковых и синонимических словарях позволяет выяснить типичные признаки и характеристики имени модели, а также самой игры в целом. «Merry-go-round» («Карусель») – это приятное и забавное развлечение- игра с быстрым движением по кругу. Семантика цикличного движения реализована в нарративных ситуациях – приключения главных персонажей повторяются по кругу. На лексическом и грамматическом уровнях семантика движения актуализируется в глаголах движения. На семиотическом уровне семантика движения актуализирована в иллюстрациях, которые визуально напоминают движения по кругу. Такая нарративная структура художественного текста активирует в подсознании ребенка его знания, воспоминания, эмоции, связанные с развлечением-игрой merry-go-round, что стимулирует ребенка проявлять любознательность и заинтересованность в развитии сюжета сказки.Item MODERN CHANGES IN THE TRANSFORMATIONAL PARADIGM OF THE STEREOTYPED GRAMMATICAL STRUCTURES OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE: LINGUODIDACTIC ASPECT(2024) Lebedeva, N. M.; Frantsuzova, K. S.; Французова, К. С.The methods of teaching translation are an important part of the pedagogical basis for the formation of a special component of the translation competence of scientists. There is still no generally accepted classification of methodical principles of teaching the translation of special texts. The main goal of the article is to develop methodical recommendations for learning the translation of foreign texts for the purpose of writing scientific articles (annotations, etc.) on the material of stereotyped grammatical constructions of the English language. This is explained by the fact that, at the first stage of their professional scientific activity, searchers face the difficulties of translating the specified constructions into Ukrainian due to the lack of skills and abilities to analyse translation difficulties and find ways to solve them. This situation indicates a low level of formation of translation skills among non-linguistic (graduate) students in higher educational institutions. The article investigates the problems of studying modern changes in the paradigm of functioning and translation of typical grammatical structures of the English language, represented by impersonal forms of the verb (infinitive and participial constructions). The authors analyse the above-mentioned constructions to determine their grammatical meaning when translating original English texts and teaching translation. It is proved that the incorrect transformation of the grammatical meanings of these constructions leads to distortion of the meaning of the original literary and scientific texts. The article draws attention of the readers to the fact that during translation it is necessary to maintain an inseparable connection between the lexical meanings of words and grammatical forms. Moreover, the translation of an English text consists not only in adequate reproduction the meaning of each word included in the grammatical structure of the syntactic construction, but in many cases it is essential to change the structure of the sentence, the order of words, to break one sentence into two or, on the contrary, to combine two sentences in one. The authors state that the reason for such changes is the lack of appropriate grammatical phenomena in the foreign language, as well as the mismatch of features of grammatical constructions and semantic structures in English and corresponding word combinations. Scientific interest in methods of teaching text translation and the problem of functioning and translation of lexical-grammatical constructions is due to its relevance and the need to find new ways of forming the creative qualities of students in writing formal words, reports, articles, annotations, summaries in foreign languages. The models considered in the article can be used in the theory and practice of text translation, which will contribute to the creation of a scientifically based teaching methods for the translation of literary and scientific texts. For instance, it would be useful for graduate students, scientists and those seeking scientific degrees.
