У роботі пропонується визначення поняття «іронія» як риторичного прийому, завдяки якому висловлення набуває прихованого змісту, розглянуто лінгвістичні та екстралінгвістичні чинники, які підтримують існування іронії, виокремлено основні види іронії, проаналізовано вибірку фрагментів з творів Роальда Дала/The qualifying paper is focused on theoretical and practical study on irony as a constructive principle and factors of its formation in poetics in particular. It offers a definition of the concept of «irony» as a rhetorical device, thanks to which the statement acquires a hidden meaning, considers the linguistic and extralinguistic factors that support the existence of irony, analyzes a selection of fragments from the works by Roald Dahl.
